The Athena School's Alphabet Chart
A very workable approach with students beginning reading is to ensure they have success with vowel consonants words such as at, egg, it, on, and up and consonant -vowel- consonant words such as cat, hen, bin, hot, cup. Thus they need to first learn the short sound for each vowel and the most common sound for each consonant.
